Humans build ‘systems’ to embody rules and processes. Such is the proliferation of systems in the world that most are rendered invisible by their own success. Ash Tower is concerned with quietly disrupting these everyday systems in an attempt to force them back into focus. Formulating work using systems theory methodologies, Tower’s work materialises as interventions in human environments, designed to provoke a moment of uncertainty. In eliciting a double-take, Tower’s work provides a rupture in expected reality, where the participant briefly witnesses the complex architecture of a systematic existence.
